Red Diesel

Red Diesel, 35 second burning oil, Gas oil, Red Derv, is widely used in Farming equipment, Construction vehicles, snow ploughs, Gritters and also some old oil-fired boilers.
Red Diesel is taxed at a lower Rate making it perfect for powering vehicles that require low-cost fuel for work purposes.

Called Red Diesel because of the dye used to make it red in colour, and to make it easy for police and customs to identify it from Road Diesel.
Often used illegally it can carries a fine if used for any purpous than it is intended for.
You could be prosecuted if found using it incorrectly.

Red Derv can be used in Farming vehicles as long as they are being used on the farm or for business purposes only.

Police and Customs often carry out spot checks on vehicles on roads at at weigh bridges, if you are found using it in other other way than the purpose it was intended for you could be fined and your vehicle be seized, In the worst-cases you could face a prison sentence.
